gibson guitars project overview
Commit Media advises and supports Environmental Defense Fund and its programs in various ways.  Two recent public examples:

(a) Commit Media brokered, and continues to facilitate, a new relationship between Environmental Defense Fund and Gibson maker of the worlds leading guitar. The first collaboration took place at this year's Country Music Association Festival in Nashville, where Gibson hosted a booth on Global Warming. Alongside powerful visual depictions of the impacts of climate change, Gibson displayed its unique custom Environmental Defense Fund-themed guitar. Climate experts staffing the booth offered information for visitors on how to save energy and our planet.

b) Produced for Environmental Defense Fund, the award-winning film, Discovering Hetch Hetchy, recreates America's first tragic conservation battle, a battle which resulted in the loss of a valley in Yosemite National Park which John Muir called as glorious as its twin. The film, directed by David Vassar, is the centerpiece of an Environmental Defense Fund campaign to restore HetchHetchy. Commit Media worked on the film including identifying and successfully invited Harrison Ford to narrate, and appear in the production. The film and its PSA won a Silver and Gold Medal respectively for Public Service Video at the Summit Awards, an organization that recognizes and celebrates the creative accomplishments of small and medium sized advertising agencies and other creative groups with annual billings of $25 million or less. The film also won "Best Short" at the 2006 Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival and is a finalist in the upcoming Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival awards.

harrison ford Harrison Ford for his decade-long active commitment to conservation and his appearance in Discovering Hetch Hetchy.

ward burton Ward Burton
Building on the work of the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation, Ward Burton recently continued his commitment to environmental issues in Washington, DC, in an effort to gain momentum for the Healthy Farms, Foods and Fuels Act of 2007 on Capitol Hill. Invited by Environmental Defense, sponsors of the new bill, Burton met with key representatives to share his thoughts about the importance of increasing funding for conservation incentives and assistance to farmers, ranchers and forest landowners. The bill, if passed, could protect 10 million acres of farm, ranch and forest land from urban sprawl, provide new incentives for cooperative conservation projects like the VA RACER project Burton started in Franklin County, and promote renewable energy on farms.
